There are many changes that a family can make, but the hard thing is to adapt to it. People hate change, but as you gradually change, it becomes easier to adapt. There are so many ways a household family can change their carbon foot print, or just help the environment out.
We can start out by buying locally or just having our own garden. I have a Global Ed class which we help, volunteer, and try to help our earth out as much as possible; including people and the environment. It is proven that if everyone bought 40% locally that it would be cheaper. Imagine having your own garden; not having to ship your food and won’t have those toxins and pollutants around. Buying at a super market may not be local, if we buy local you will lower the green house gases, and pollution in the air from shipping. Don’t you think it would be easier? Instead of going to the store and buying your fruits and vegetables, you jut have to go outside. All you have to do is buy the seeds, or in some cases just reuse the seeds from the fruit or vegetable. It’s not hard to plant and grow, but I guess just thinking about it people seem to have the conclusion in their head that “their to busy”.
Recycling is the easiest change that a household could do. When there is any recyclables but them in a separated bag, NOT IN THE GARBAGE CAN! If taking the recycing out everyday is a pain, put a container beside your garbage can in your kitchen, and just take the recycling out when you have to take out the garbage. Recycling is such a great system because anything can basically be made out of it. Why not take back your recycling you get money back too, maybe not the same amount that you bought it for, but its better than nothing. So why not? Heres a list of some things that can be recycled.
Aluminum and glass
Plastic water bottles
Old cell phones
News papers
Computers printers, cameras.
Most people don’t know that they can return there old computers and printers, so they end up at the dump or the side of the road.
It takes about twice as much water to have a bath than have a shower. Reduce your bathing time and take showers. You will reduce your water consumption and pay less on your energy bill, due to heating the water. Only do your laundry when the basket is full, and either use cold water or warm-cold water, using hot water will also put your energy bill up higher. This is exactly what we do at our house we only have two days where we do laundry; Mondays, and Fridays. Sometimes an extra day if needed.
The most critical pollution that is happening in communities all over the world is water pollution. Household families just need to watch what they put down there sinks and toilets. Make sure there is no chemicals or pollutants going down the drain. If this happens it ends up in our rivers, and oceans then evaporates into the air and then we have rain. Which mean its pollutant rain and the cycle continues this is a very deadly cycle because this can effect our wildlife.
These are possible ways that people can change and help the environment, if we don’t change now karma will get us eventually.
